I’ve shot over 50 weddings either as the main photographer or as a second photographer and I have seen a LOT of different wonderful decor for the receptions! I have three friends getting married this year, so I just wanted to share a post for you brides that are still deciding on what to do! I’ll just pick a couple from 2013.
Here is my most recent wedding. Obviously winter inspired! I just LOVE what Rachel did with the burlap and lace at this venue. Getting creative with bottles and jars, and some baby’s breathe which I think makes a statement without being too bold. The clear garland at the cake table is so subtle and simply beautiful.
The birdcage idea is a great substitution for a card box! I’ve seen this several times this year, and loved it every single time.
…and here are the bride and groom! Brave for having a wedding in January, but they picked a great venue and did a great job with the decor.
Let’s go back to the summer where it was nice and warm 🙂
Hanna picked a more romantic look. They had an indoor wedding, but at the reception there was the option to sit in or outside. Lots of lanterns created a more dimly lit atmosphere which paired well with the sunset that evening.
They really do go with anything! I used lots of lanterns at my wedding as well. LOVE the idea, obviously.
They really blinged out when it came to the cake table. Aren’t those toasting glasses magnificent?
Here’s a shot of the bride and groom 🙂 They were super easy to photograph…I couldn’t believe all the great images that were captured that beautiful (and incredibly hot) day.
Lastly, I have a spring bride from earlier in 2013. This one was shot out toward Columbia, Missouri. They did a traditional catholic wedding but afterwards had their reception outside in a barn-type venue. It was incredible! They had lots of string lights in the ceilings that really added a romantic feeling to their rustic wedding.
I’ll start with the bride and groom table. The mr and mrs flags are adorable! Maybe an Etsy or Pinterest find?
Lots of buckets of the Babys breathe and Craspedia Billy Balls which make for a great way to throw yellow into the color scheme.
Even Jessica’s bouquet had them! The feathers were a great addition.
The cake topper is adorable! Love birds…a great symbol of this couple. Their love was definitely evident. Also noteworthy: the slats of wood. I’m pretty sure they cut/made those themselves.
I love that more couples are doing candy bars. Jessica made custom bags for the favors so that everyone could take as much candy as they could fit in a bag!
Which was obviously taken advantage of 🙂 If I were a guest, I may have done the same. It’s hard not to grab a couple pieces in between shots!
Sticks with yarn. I NEVER would have thought of this, but what a GREAT idea!!
Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a piece of my year. Good luck and happy planning, brides!
